School of Self Defense

The Aikido School of Self Defense, located in Middletown, NY, is the oldest Martial Arts school in Orange County. It was established in September 1980 with a reputation that stands tall all over the world. All instructors at the Aikido School of Self Defense are certified Black Belt holders with the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association in Guttenberg, NJ. You will be taught to meet the highest standards of the art. You will train in the disciplined traditions of Ancient Ones, and learn to maximize you physical and mental potential. Your physical condition will improve, your self confidence will increase and you will take pride in who you are and what you do. Jerry Phelps was promoted to the rank of Ni-Dan by Sensei Robert B. MacEwen. Jerry Phelps was never promoted to the rank of San-Dan by anyone in the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association. Jerry Phelps is no longer associated with the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association and cannot promote anyone to any rank in the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association.

Will Holloway was promoted to the rank of Sho-Dan by Sensei Robert B. MacEwen. Will Holloway was never promoted to the rank of Ni-Dan by anyone in the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association. Will Holloway is not associated with the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association and cannot promote anyone to any rank in the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association.

Walter Kopitov was promoted to the rank of Sho-Dan by Sensei Robert B. MacEwen. He received the rank of Ni-Dan from Shihan Richard A. Bowe. Walter Kopitov is no longer associated with the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association and cannot promote anyone to any rank in the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association.
